We are currently seeking Multi Skilled Day Port Operatives – to be based at the Port of Southampton.

This is a physically demanding, manual industry where all operatives work in a safety critical environment. Health and Safety is of paramount importance.

The role entails working an assortment of day shifts on a rotational semi fixed pattern. The port is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 363 days of the year (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day).

Salary £26,236 per annum + bonus

There will be opportunities to progress to Multi Skilled Shifts positions, which involve a higher rate of pay and working night shifts when required.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide an effective and efficient cargo securing service leading to heavy plant driving in line with specific customer and Company requirements. Monitor and maintain work practices with particular focus on health and safety. Ensure customer requirements are met with regards to standards and quality.

  • We are seeking individuals who can demonstrate a first class, effective and efficient service to our operation ensuring that the high standards of service and performance levels are maintained and improved, including flexible approach to working arrangements, ability to work in a small team and good communication skills.
  • Due to Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1974 applicants must be 18 years of age and have a full driving licence.
