Our General Port Operators work a rotational five over seven shift pattern of days and nights to support the 24/7 terminal.

Day rate £10.58 per hr / Night Rate £12.65 per hr
We are currently seeking to recruit General Port Operatives who would be willing to progress to Multi Skilled Port Operatives – to work at the Port of Southampton.
This is a physically demanding, manual industry where all operatives work in a safety critical environment. Health and Safety is of paramount importance.
The role entails working an assortment of day and night shifts on a rotational semi fixed pattern. The port is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 363 days of the year (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day).
Provide an effective and efficient cargo securing service leading to heavy plant driving in line with specific customer and Company requirements. Monitor and maintain work practices with particular focus on health and safety. Ensure customer requirements are met with regards to standards and quality.
We are seeking individuals who can provide a first class, effective and efficient service to our operation ensuring that the high standards of service and performance levels are maintained and improved. This can include multi skilling and variable job roles which require individuals who have an all-round approach to work and are adaptable to change.
The main requirements for the position are:
- Flexible approach to working arrangements.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Good communication skills.
- Full UK / EU Driving Licence essential.
Due to Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1974 applicants must be 18 years of age and have a full driving licence.
